APPLICATIONS
Water Treatment for Food and Beverage Production
Ingredient water, product washing and equipment cleaning should not be grouped into one undefined demand. Map each water use to its quality target and production schedule. This provides a practical starting point for comparing RO capacity and identifying which outlets need dedicated treatment.
What to include in your enquiry
- List each use: recipe water, washing, final rinsing, cleaning or utilities. State whether water contacts food directly and provide the relevant internal specification.
- Describe batch sizes and overlapping processes. Supply hourly demand where possible, including short cleaning peaks that may exceed the average production requirement.
- Provide source analysis, desired conductivity or other process targets, cleaning arrangements and the proposed storage and distribution layout for review.
Planning the treatment process
FAO and WHO guidance frames food-processing water around fitness for its intended use. A proposal therefore begins with the process requirements, not a universal filter sequence. Pretreatment and RO may support specified chemical-quality targets; hygiene controls, monitoring and acceptance testing remain part of the wider food-production plan.
Common project questions
Should ingredient water and utility water share one treatment system?
Compare their specifications and demand profiles first. A shared supply may simplify equipment, while separate treatment can address different requirements. The plant team should define the intended arrangement.
Does a low TDS reading confirm water is suitable for production?
No single reading describes every relevant quality attribute. Use the product and process specification to define chemical and microbiological testing, together with monitoring during operation.
