Water Treatment for Bottling Projects

A bottling project needs a coordinated water-treatment and filling plan. Start with the intended bottle formats and production schedule, then define the treated-water specification. The RO unit, storage arrangement and filler should be assessed as connected parts of the operation.

What to include in your enquiry

  • Specify bottle volumes, target bottles per hour, shift length and expected changeovers. Include rinsing and cleaning demand separately from saleable bottled volume.
  • Provide source-water analysis and the target product specification. Identify sampling points, planned hygiene procedures and the person responsible for finished-product testing.
  • Share tank locations, pipe routes and available floor space. For a four-head or six-head filler, confirm the bottle range and demonstrated cycle time.

Planning the treatment process

The water report determines pretreatment and whether RO fits the product specification. Downstream storage, any final treatment, container handling and filling hygiene require their own review. Installing an RO unit alone does not establish finished-bottle quality or validate the complete production process.

Common project questions

Does a six-head filler necessarily need a larger RO system?

Head count alone is insufficient. Compare bottle volume, actual filling cycles, shift output, cleaning demand and buffer storage before selecting nominal RO capacity.

Can I select treatment from bottles per hour alone?

That figure helps estimate demand, but source chemistry and the intended finished-water specification still determine treatment. Allow for planned downtime and non-product water uses in the production calculation.
